Childcare, Family Support & Workforce

Policies

  1. 1. Childcare partnership models until every child has a seat in care that isn’t home or school.

    2. Pilot programs to expand childcare provided in existing buildings while we gather what the true need is for our county

    3. Coordinate with our major employers such as Tyson to bring employer-backed childcare to our workforce.

    4. Better coordination and creation of family-first resources and prevention for burnout and overwhelm of caregivers

    5. Women’s healthcare, family planning, pregnancy resources, diverse delivery options, and postpartum support needs to exist here in the county for our residents.

    6. Youth engagement and mentorship opportunities to explore different workforce pathways beyond the major manufacturing here. We should explore the social sciences and expand opportunities for the service industry careers as our population of elders will continue to grow. We need to look forward for what jobs will be needed in the coming decade.

    7. Adoption, foster care, and foster kids aging out of foster care need to be addressed and resources provided to families and new adults. We need to take care of our kids and make sure families have the support they need. I want more options for supporting adults who get turned out of foster care without support.
